In 1999 I was awarded The
Jewel Pearce Patterson Scholarship for International Quilt Teachers
by Quilts Inc., organisers of the Quilt Market and Quilt Festival
in Houston, USA.
During my first visit to Houston in 1999 I attended classes with
leading American teachers - Judy Dales, Ricky Tims, Libby Lehman,
Katie Pasquini-Masopust and Linda Fiedler, and demonstrations with
many others including Mickey Lawler.
In 2000, I returned to Houston to exhibit both my own work and
that of my students, which demonstrated how I had passed on the
knowledge and influences I'd gained from participating in Houston
the previous year.
Here are some quilts that were inspired by my Houston experience.

Downtown
Houston
Inspired by the reflections of buildings in downtown Houston, I've
dedicated this piece to my father Ken Hudson, who passed away while
I was making it. It was hard to concentrate, but I had to finish
it - he was very proud of my work. Thai silk and hand-dyed cotton.
Thermore wadding. Machine pieced and appliqué. Machine embroidery
and quilting. 35 x 62 inches. 2000.
