The Skye Escape series of
five quilts was inspired by the colours on the Isle of Skye during
a holiday there in 1997. I'd never been to Scotland before and was
awestruck by the scenery - the sunsets, the clear blue locks, the
heather and the peat bogs. I named this technique, a form of crazy
log cabin combined with strip piecing, "Chop and Go".
All of these quilts are from hand dyed and painted cottons. Commercially
dyed and printed silks and cottons. Warm and Natural cotton wadding.
Machine pieced and quilted in Celtic Spiral design using invisible
thread.

Skye Escape
V
I've said this is the last in the series, but now I'm having second
thoughts as I keep coming up with new variations on a theme! This
one depicts the glow of the sunset on Skye. 39 x 45 inches. 1999.
