I have been involved in patchwork and
quilting for the last thirty years and have been teaching since
1988.
I am self-taught, having been interested in many forms of needlework
since the age of five, including making my own clothes for many
years.

By the time I married David
in 1974 I'd accumulated a large stash of left over fabrics and made
my first quilt. Since then, I've lost count!
In 1991 I started the City and Guilds Creative Studies course in
Patchwork and Quilting at North Hertfordshire College. For the next
two years, I struggled to pay the fees and travel from London to
Hitchin, but I was determined to gain a recognised qualification
in Patchwork and Quilting. I achieved City and Guilds Part 1 in
1993 and was also awarded the first ever Medal for Excellence in
Patchwork and Quilting at City and Guilds Part 1.
In 1997 I gained my City and Guilds Part 2 and in 2001 I achieved
a Diploma in Stitched Textiles from East Berkshire College.
I am continually developing my work, including using other textile
media to add interest and texture to my patchwork and quilting.
I am also interested in surface design. I dye, paint and print fabrics
for the majority my work to make each piece unique.
I am inspired by the work of many artists such as Monet, Paul
Klee, Van Gogh, Howard Hodgkin, John Bellany and Ton Schulten.
