What inspires us to create textile art? For me, it's the tactile quality of the cloth itself, and the pattern created by stitching in general and quilting in particular.

As a child, I learned embroidery from my mother and an enthusiastic teacher. So began my life long passion and a creative journey through the world of stitching and textiles.

I stitch to please myself. But when my creations help inspire and encourage other to stitch - I know I've succeeded.

In Stitches : Celebrating The Abolition of Slavery
In 2006 I was commissioned by The African Families Foundation (TAFF), a network of community organisations in south London, to design and co-ordinate the making of a quilt to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of The Abolition of Slavery.

The finished quilt has been Christened by TAFF as 'In Stitches'.
