Janice's City & Guilds students have gone far: studying at degree level, starting retail businesses and many have followed in Janice's footsteps to become teachers themselves.

Testimonials from Janice's students

Thank you Janice, you have taken me out of my comfort zone into the experimental. So glad you have nudged me there. Jackie B

You have inspired and encouraged me beyond my expectations. I never would have believed two years ago that I would have learned so much and have produced the work I have today. Many thanks. Cathy A

Janice Gunner has introduced me to textiles processes and practices I didn't know existed. With consideration and care she has guided me to achieve results I would never have imagined were within my ability. I have enjoyed the past two years and it’s a measure of my regard for her that I have enrolled for another two years of study. Liz F

Thank you for turning me from a 'quilt by numbers' person into a quilter who has the confidence to design and create my own pieces. I feel I’ve started a journey to become a quilt artist - I’m very excited to see where this journey goes! John M

It’s obvious that Janice loves her subject and is an expert on textiles and patchwork and quilting, but what singles her out is that she teaches by encouragement. She is always enthusiastic about her students' work and delights in their successes. That’s not to say that mistakes get by her - we all know when we've not quite hit the mark. But I’ve never heard her use negative criticism or put anyone down in class. She encourages experimentation and sharing of ideas and this approach really inspires people to do well. She goes on the journey with you and her classes have never been anything but fun. Connie G
